Licensed Insolvency Practitioner

Mark qualified as an Insolvency Practitioner in 1996 and joined Valentine & Co in February 1998 having spent the previous decade working in the specialist insolvency sector primarily within a medium sized firm. Mark became an appointment taking practitioner in 2000 and became a Fellow of The Association of Business Recovery Professionals: R3 in 2005. Mark took over the management of the Insolvency Practice from Robert Valentine in April 2005.

Mark is licensed by the Insolvency Practitioners Association to undertake appointments in all formal insolvency procedures including bankruptcy, voluntary and compulsory liquidations, individual and company voluntary arrangements as well as administrations.

In his spare time, Mark perseveres in watching / supporting QPR and strives to become a mediocre squash player.


David Elliott, FCA MABRP

Licensed Insolvency Practitioner

David qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1991 and as an Insolvency Practitioner in 1994. He moved from general practice in 1996, joining a top ten firm of Chartered Accountants in their Kent office, specialising in the insolvency sector. He became a partner in 2003 and continued to develop the Kent office until 2017. He then joined a specialist insolvency firm, successfully setting up their Kent office. In 2023, David joined Valentine & Co, establishing the office in Dartford.

Over his career, David has dealt with all forms of insolvency, both corporate and personal. He has also dealt with many varying types and sizes of businesses, covering many sectors including construction; retail; IT and software; engineering and the motor trade. he has experience of acting for lenders, including the main banks and also alternative finance providers.

His breadth of experience means that he has knowledge of the factors that will affect businesses in distress and is able to assess those steps that are needed to reach a solution that fits the situation.


Robert Valentine FCA MABRP, Consultant

Robert, a chartered accountant, formed Valentine & Co in April 1982. Robert had, by that time, gained many years insolvency industry experience in senior roles held within a number of larger professional organisations.

In April 2005, Robert sold the practice and remained on board as a part time consultant. This has allowed him to pursue other interests, such as magistrate duties, charitable positions and following Grand Prix racing.
